The Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association is the state affiliate of the AQHA supporting efforts to sustain and encourage growth of the Quarter Horse Industry in the state of Oklahoma.  The OQHA is the umbrella association and supports the amateur and youth programs through the Oklahoma Amateur Quarter Horse Association and the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Youth Association.

We host three shows each year; the OQHA Spring Show in April which offers 5 sets of AQHA points, the Osage Gathering VRH show in May, and the Redbud Spectacular in June which is a an AQHA Top 10 show offering 8 sets of points.

Members who show in these shows and in shows around the state that are OQHA approved earn state affiliate points toward the Oklahoma Year-End Awards.  OQHA is proud to celebrate our members’ successes through our year-end program at the annual Convention and banquet held in January.

Also held in January, is the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Hall of Fame banquet where we honor exemplary horses, individuals and businesses whose contributions have made lasting impacts on the Quarter Horse industry in Oklahoma.  We partner with the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association during this event to honor those from the showing, breeding, and racing industries and through the Bud Breeding Oklahoma Spirit Award we honor individuals who have excelled in philanthropy in the equine industry.

Each September, the OQHA is honored to be able to give back to Oklahoma by offering the Western Heritage Day event benefiting the Oklahoma School for the Blind.  This event allows us to bring the love of horses into the community, and partnering with Silver Spurs Western Lodge, Connors State College and local high schools, we are able to provide a fun day of pony rides, stagecoach rides, roping, rock wall climbing, fishing and more to hundreds of students at the Oklahoma School for the Blind.  This is a fun day for all involved, both students and volunteers alike!
