Jerry Hull

Jerry retired early to pursue his leatherworking hobby fulltime. Along with Georgeann, he soon opened Trophy Tack in Bixby, Oklahoma. He had extraordinary talent, an easygoing demeanor and a habit of treating every customer as if they were his only priority. He gave individuality into every item he created. As a result, his Western Pleasure and Roping soon set the standard in the Equine Industry, not just in the United States, but internationally. Many young saddle makers got their start in his shop.

Jerry always gave back to the horse industry through sponsorship of numerous Circuit Shows and the World Championship Show. He also gave much of his time to support the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. He held numerous offices in both associations. In 1985, when he won a Jeep at the AQHA World Show, he donated it to OQHA to be used as a fundraiser. Jerry was very instrumental in developing the AQHA Amateur Select Program. In addition, he held several offices in the Palomino Horse Breeders of America and the Oklahoma Palomino Exhibitors Association.

As an avid team roper, he won five PHBA World Championships, qualified many times for the AQHA World Show and won the Ben Johnson Celebrity Team Roping in 1994.

He served on the parish staff of the Bixby First United Methodist Church and on the Trade Advisory Board at OSU.

The Equine Industry lost a true friend on June 14, 2004 when Jerry passed away from a sudden heart attack. He had just returned from the Redbud Spectacular in Oklahoma City where had competed and ran the mobile Trophy Tack Shop. He did what he loved right to the end.

He was man who applied Christian values in every aspect of his life. Not only did he love his family and the Equine Industry, but he was also loved by all who had the priviledge of knowing him.
