The late AQHA stallion Hot N Blazing will join the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Hall of Fame as a 2023 Inductee.  Purchased by Courtney Battison, Purcell, OK with the help of trainers Butch and Patty Campbell, the stallion by Blazing Hot and out of Zippos Baby Jane was originally bought to be Courtney’s Amateur horse.

As a two year old, Gil Galyean showed Hot N Blazing at the major two year old Western Pleasure futurities, placing consistently at the top. Rusty Green also trained Hot N Blazing, and showed him to a Quarter Horse Congress championship in Junior Western Riding and a reserve AQHA world champion in Junior Western Riding after Courtney became his owner.

‘Blaze’ quickly showed how versatile he was. He won Junior Western Riding and Hunter Under Saddle on the same day at the Congress in 2001, and would go on to win the AQHA world championship in Junior Hunter Under Saddle with Nancy Sue Ryan in the irons in 2002.

Tanya Green also showed Blaze to three Congress champion titles.  With Butch and Patty’s guidance, Battison showed Blaze in Amateur Hunter Under Saddle, Amateur Hunt Seat Equitation and Amateur Western Riding. Butch also showed him in Junior Trail.

Blaze quickly became a proven sire as well. Courtney credits several people who were involved in Blaze’s breeding career. Joe and Suzy Jeane, Mike Hay and Milt Alderman assisted Courtney early in Blaze’s breeding career.

One of the true testaments to Blaze’s good nature was the fact that Courtney stood the stallion herself for the last eight years before his passing.
